Bethany Downer (28), born and raised in St. John’s, is a public communicator for the space industry. Her goal is to bring space and astronomy to the public by making "rocket science" for everyone. She is on her way to becoming the first person from this province to go to space. Bethany is the Chief Science Communications Officer for the Hubble and James Webb Space Telescopes for the European Space Agency, and she is the Director of Communications for STAR HARBOR - the world’s first publicly accessible spaceflight training facility and research and development campus for space. Bethany has twice been named one of Canada's Top 30 under 30 and is a recipient of Canada’s Sovereign’s Medal from the Governor General. Follow her on Instagram: instagram.com/bethanydowner
